What our clients are saying

Testimonials

  • “Helen delivered three very popular webinars on the topic of navigating bereavement, for our primary care professionals.

She shared moving personal stories which really resonated with our audience, and delivered the sessions in a very sensitive, caring and honest way.

Her webinars focussed on aspects of grief that many people lack confidence in, with a dedicated session for managers and one for staff too.

They were incredibly thought-provoking sessions, and gave genuinely useful tools and techniques to use both in the workplace and in our personal lives”

  • “Really useful to understand how the wrong phrasing can be very unhelpful for those who are grieving”

  • Discussing grief and loss can be challenging due to the sensitive nature of these topics, Helen succeeded in delivering an informative, engaging, and uplifting presentation. Her approach ensured that the conversation was accessible and constructive, without becoming overwhelming or distressing. She not only shared practical tips and valuable advice on navigating grief and loss but also offered an important reminder: we never truly see the entirety of any individual; that there are always aspects of ourselves that remain private or hidden—sometimes by choice, other times unconsciously. Thank you Helen!

Grief is a natural part of life but many people feel unsure how to support a colleague through loss. Silence, awkwardness or fear of saying the wrong thing can leave people feeling isolated just when they need understanding most.

Grief awareness training is not a luxury. It is an essential part of building a compassionate, human workplace where people feel seen, valued and supported.

About Helen…

I founded The Flying Fish Company® after losing my husband to suicide at 24. Returning to work while grieving was one of the hardest things I’ve ever faced. That experience shapes everything I do.

With a background in mental health and experience designing grief training I support organisations to respond with clarity and compassion so teams feel prepared and supported when loss impacts the workplace.

My approach is grounded in lived experience trauma awareness and practical insight. I believe workplaces can be spaces of genuine care even in the hardest moments.
