Grief Awareness Week 2025
Reflect. Connect. Share what helps.
Seeds of Hope: A Grief Awareness Week event
In honour of Grief Awareness Week 2025, The Flying Fish Company® hosted a gentle lunchtime event to encourage reflection, conversation and connection.
In the lead-up, people were invited to share short Stories of Kindness, moments, gestures or words that made a difference when grief touched their life. Some of these reflections were read anonymously during the session to inspire others and help us all feel more confident in how we reach out and support.
The session, titled “Seeds of Hope”, took place on Monday 1 and Monday 8th December 12.30–1.15 pm (UK) and was open to anyone who wanted to understand grief and the simple acts of kindness that can help.
It was an opportunity to pause, learn and share ideas about what really helps when words fall short.
Reflections from participants
Feedback shared after Seeds of Hope highlighted how important it felt to have a calm, gentle space to pause and reflect. The session was described as safe and inclusive, with no pressure to speak or share personal experiences.
Many people reflected on the power of hearing real stories, the value of practical and compassionate language, and how small acts of kindness can make a meaningful difference when someone is grieving.
Participants shared that the session left them feeling reassured and more confident in how they respond to others:
“It helped me feel more confident about how to support someone who is grieving.”
“Hearing the stories and the reflections on them really stayed with me.”
“It reminded me how important the ‘little’ offers of help are, and how much they matter.”

Events like Seeds of Hope are designed to feel gentle, accessible and inclusive. Cameras were off, there was no expectation to share personal experiences, and people were always welcome to simply listen and reflect in a way that felt right for them.

Health and Wellbeing at Work Event
Birmingham NEC 2025
In March 2025, we had the privilege of exhibiting at the UK’s leading Health and Wellbeing at Work event, held at the NEC Birmingham. Over the course of several days, we connected with professionals from across the country-HR leaders, healthcare providers, educators and changemakers, who are all committed to building kinder, more supportive working cultures.
Our stand was a little under the sea sanctuary of hope, where we introduced visitors to our Workplace Grief Awareness Series, shared stories and opened powerful conversations about loss and resilience. The response was heartfelt and humbling.
It was a reminder that so many people are ready for change and that grief training isn’t just needed, it’s wanted.
Thank you to everyone who visited our stand, asked questions, shared a moment, or simply stopped to connect. We see you, And we’re so glad you’re part of this growing wave of awareness.
Below are a few snapshots from our time at the NEC, full of human connection, brave conversations and moments that made this event truly special.
