Seeds of Compassion

Stories of grief, kindness and human connection

Part of the Gateshead Festival of Compassion 17 February 2026 12.30pm-1.15pm

Join us for a reflective lunchtime event

As part of the Gateshead Festival of Compassion, The Flying Fish Company® is hosting Seeds of Compassion, a reflective virtual session exploring stories of grief, kindness and human connection.

The session is open to anyone, with a particular focus on the workplace. It takes place over lunchtime so people can join during a break, step away from the busyness of the day, and take part in a way that feels manageable and supportive.

Seeds of Compassion offers a calm, inclusive space to pause, reflect, and consider what genuinely helps when grief touches our lives, at work and beyond.

In the lead-up to the session, people are invited to share short stories of kindness, moments, gestures or words that made a difference when grief touched their life. Some of these reflections will be shared anonymously during the session, offering gentle prompts for discussion and reflection.

Shaped by reflections shared during previous sessions. The intention is to support people who want to reach out but often don’t know what to say or do. This is particularly relevant in everyday workplace moments, where there can be a fear of getting it wrong or making things worse.

The session, titled “Seeds of Compassion”, will take place on Tuesday 17 February, 12.30–1.15 pm (UK) and is open to anyone who wants to explore how compassion, kindness and simple human responses can make a difference.

Taking place as part of the Gateshead Festival of Compassion, the session offers space to pause, listen and reflect on what genuinely helps when words feel hard to find, particularly in workplace settings.

Following the positive response to earlier lunchtime conversations, Seeds of Compassion continues to centre real experiences and practical reflection in a calm, inclusive space.

Register below for this free lunchtime session.

You’ll receive an email with the Microsoft Teams joining link and a reminder ahead of the session.

Cameras are optional, and there is no expectation to share personal experiences. You are very welcome to simply listen, reflect, and take part in a way that feels right for you.
