Grief Awareness and Postvention Training | DayOne

Welcome to DayOne colleagues

You’re invited to a live, in-person session with Helen from The Flying Fish Company®

The sessions will focus on grief and loss in the context of trauma-exposed work, followed by a second session on suicide postvention in the workplace.

This page offers an overview of the sessions and what to expect to gain from the day.

Participants will explore:

What grief is in a workplace context, including non-death losses such as life-changing injury, role change, identity loss and cumulative impact

  • How grief can show up in ourselves and in the people we support, influencing communication, concentration, emotional regulation and connection

  • Why supporting others through trauma can carry an emotional impact, even when we are skilled, experienced and well supported

  • What helps and what doesn’t when responding to grief at work, including common misconceptions and unhelpful pressures to fix or say the right thing

  • Space to reflect on how grief and loss may be present in work, often in subtle or familiar ways

  • Practical ways to strengthen confidence and sustainability through shared language, reflection and awareness rather than disclosure or problem solving
