Safeguarding Policy

The Flying Fish Company

Policy Statement
The Flying Fish Company is committed to promoting a safe, respectful and inclusive environment for all participants engaging with our training sessions, content and communications. While we do not operate as a regulated care provider, we recognise our responsibility to be vigilant and sensitive to the needs of individuals who may be vulnerable, affected by bereavement or experiencing emotional distress.

Scope
This policy applies to all training sessions, webinars, courses and communications delivered by or on behalf of The Flying Fish Company.

Our Commitment
We will:

  • Prioritise the emotional safety and dignity of participants

  • Promote respectful interactions in all group learning environments

  • Clearly state the boundaries between training, support and therapy

  • Take all concerns raised during training seriously and respond appropriately

  • Encourage individuals to seek further support from appropriate services where needed

Trainer Responsibilities
Helen, as the lead trainer and founder, is responsible for:

  • Setting clear group agreements to create a safe and supportive learning space

  • Ensuring content is delivered in a trauma-aware and inclusive way

  • Signposting to support services when appropriate

  • Monitoring for signs of distress and responding with care and discretion

  • Maintaining the confidentiality of individuals except where there is concern about serious harm

Confidentiality and Disclosures
While training sessions are not therapy and confidentiality cannot be guaranteed, participants are encouraged to share only what feels safe and appropriate. If a disclosure suggests that someone may be at risk of serious harm, The Flying Fish Company reserves the right to escalate the concern to appropriate services.

Training Environment
All sessions will include a clear explanation of boundaries and available support. Participants will be reminded they can step away at any time or access private follow-up if they feel overwhelmed.

Review
This policy will be reviewed annually and updated as needed to ensure alignment with best practice in safeguarding and adult learning environments.
